NSS UNIT
The National ServiceScheme (NSS) is an Indian government sponsored public service program conductedby the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India.Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year,1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSSis a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2level working for a campus-community linkage. The first duty of the studentsshould be, not to treat their period of study as one of the opportunities forindulgence in intellectual luxury, but for preparing themselves for finaldedication in the service of those who provided the sinews of the nation withthe national goods & services so essential to society.
The cardinal principleof the programme is that it is organised by the students themselves and bothstudents and teachers through their combined participation in social service,get a sense of involvement in the tasks of national development. Besides, thestudents, particularly, obtain work experience which might help them to findavenues of self-employment or employment in any organisation at the end oftheir university career.
OBJECTIVES

MOTTO
The Motto of NSS"Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living andupholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students developappreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration to'/other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrined in thismotto, which underlines/on the belief that the welfare .of an individual isultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore,the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.
SYMBOL
The symbol for the NSShas been based on the giant Rath Wheel of the world famous Konark Sun Temple(The Black Pagoda) situated in Orissa, India. The wheel portrays the cycle ofcreation, preservation and release and signifies the movement in life acrosstime and space, The symbol thus stands for continuity as well as change andimplies the continuous striving of NSS for social change.
BADGE
The NSS Symbol isembossed on the badge. The eight bars in the wheel represent the 24 hours of aday. The red colour indicates that the volunteer is full of young blood that islively, active, energetic and full of high spirit. The navy blue colourindicates the cosmos of which the NSS is tiny part, ready to contribute itsshare for the welfare of the mankind.
ACTIVITIES
The college has encouraged participation of students in NSS activities over the years. NSS volunteers of our college have actively been participating in various activities to inculcate community service amongst them.
